Its still 2 days after attending the concert in San Francisco and I am still recovering. Honor Society, my new fave band, played at the historic Fillmore. Vivian, Carrie, Brittany and I were lucky enough to score tickets (which were $15!) to go see them. We had the tickets, which was easy, but asking permission to go see them was not so easy. After waiting till the tickets actually arrived, we concocted a plan to act like Brittany had purchased the tickets for us and act like it was a surprise to us. We put our acting skills to the test and hoped that it would work. I was first to get permission, 10 days before the concert. Vivian was next with barely 3-4 days till the concert. Carrie was actually told no, that she could not go at all. It made me sad; knowing that she was going to stay at home while the rest of us were in San Fran having the time of our lives.
It was the day of our concert and I was torn. I was soo stoked to be able to see Honor Society again, especially with the small venue of the Fillmore but I was also really bummed out to know that Carrie wasn't going to be there. Vivian wanted to do our hair and makeup so when Brittany picked me up, we headed to Viv's house to get ready. As Brittany and I entered into her house, Viv said that she had a surprise for us. We rounded to the corner and my heart jumped with happiness when I saw Carrie standing there in her concert outfit. I hopped up and down and ran over to Carrie to hug her. It made me feel so complete and even more ecstatic to know that she was going to come along on this venture with us. After we all got did up by the talents of Vivian, we were set and ready to go.
Fast forward to where we were on the outskirts of San Francisco, with Brittany at the wheel, me in the passenger seat, Carrie and Vivian sitting in the backseat. The whole ride towards SF, we were getting ourselves pumped up by singing along to songs by our favorite band (song lyric fyi, lol). I was in charge of reading out the directions that Brittany had gotten off of Google Maps. As we reached the border of SF, Brittany and I were looking for a certain exit, but to our dismay, THERE WERE NO SIGNS OF IT! Brittany couldn't very well turn the car around, so we ended up having to cross the Bay Bridge into Oakland/Alameda. After two hours of roaming those two cities and crossing back over the Bay Bridge, we finally made it into SF. But again, to our dismay, there was major, major traffic. Apparently, there was some kind of erotic/exotic convention happening in town, so we saw a lot, and I mean A LOT, of gay people with some very, very, very strange outfits. To make a long story short, we saw body parts we didnt want to see and Carrie's virgin eyes are forever scarred.
We finally find the venue and see that a line has accumulated, as long as half a block. We didnt care; as long as we got inside and see the band that we traveled two hours for. Waiting in line, the four of us encountered some very interesting people. Behind us was two girls and a dad which one of the girls was this hyperactive little thing who couldnt stop talking for a second and screamed whenever she heard someone else screamed. Another funny thing, well painful to me, that happened was when I was looking up the sidewalk when I saw a disable person coming toward us on an electric wheelchair. Being the polite person that I am, I stepped closer to the wall so he had room to pass. I'm waiting for him to pass by us, when all of a sudden, he comes prowling toward me at a fast speed and nearly knocking me over. He literally rammed the side of his damn wheelchair into my side, which made me scream out in pain. He timidly said sorry and went off on his way, like nothing was wrong. By then, everyone was looking towards me and I blush with embarrassment. Some people asked me if I was okay and I told them I was fine, when really my knee was screaming in pain. Anyways, nothing much happened after that while waiting in line. At about a little after 7, the doors apparently opened because we see a bunch of ppl running, so we take one glance at each other and just seriously start running. After a few agonizing moments of anticipation, we finally make it inside the dimly lit venue.
There was a buzz of excitement and frantic frenzy throughout the whole room. Music was playing and us fans waited in front of the stage. I had this feeling of being watched and I had this inkling that they were watching us up in the balcony. After watching for a few minutes, I saw a certain blond head poke his head out and look at the crowd. I literally started hopping and screaming and everyone around me was confused as to why I was freaking out. I smiled sheepishly but hastily told my cousins and Brittany of my discovery. As we continued to wait, the lights dimmed and screams erupted. One by one, the backup band of Emily Osment (the opening act) came out and then finally, Emily herself strutted onstage, blond hair and all. She sang about 5 songs off of her upcoming album. Emily surprised me by the way she worked the stage, engaging with the fans and by showing off the talents that she had sparsely shown before. What further impressed me even more is the fact she brought out an acoustic guitar and sang her heart out in a song. She was a great opening act and I cant wait to listen to the rest of her album.
With the opening act out of the way, everyone was way too anxious for Honor Society to come out. But at least, they finally stepped onstage and trust me, if you value your ear drums, I'd advise you not to go to one of the concerts because it was over the top freaking out and screaming! Once the crowd started jumping, I could feel the ground bouncing beneath me. Like literally, it went up and down and I did my best not to freak out, but boy, it was scary. It was seriously one of the best concerts I have ever attended. Micheal, with the smooth vocal and having of the most charismatic personalities I have ever encountered. Jason, with his talents on the electric guitar and keyboards, along with his harmonious voice. Andrew, with his hair flipping, dance moves and energetic self getting everyone hyped up with him. Alexander, with the fast, hopping beats and a smile that made every girl in the venue swoon. Song after song, I fell more and more in love with them and I wish I could have stayed longer to meet them. But alas, we all had class the following morning, so we booked it out of San Fran and hoped that we, the fans, as a whole, made an impact in each of the guys' lives.
